The Metropolitan Council reports the seven-county metropolitan area is growing at an annual rate of 25,000 residents per year. There are currently 1,358 multi-housing complexes in the city of St. Paul and twenty percent of the job force in the Twin Cities are renters. (There are also non-working students who are renters.) In the next decade in Minnesota, there is an expected increase in the percentage of renters and the demand for apartments.
